Chris has called Newmarket home for over 20 years. He is currently serving his third term as Ward 7 Councillor in the town after capturing 65% of the vote in 2010. In his first election win in 2003, Chris became the youngest person in the town’s history to hold elected office. Chris considers it an honour and privilege to represent his constituents. He is one of York Region’s leaders in creating positive change.
Growing up, Chris attended Sacred Heart Catholic High School and then studied Political Science and Economics at the University of Toronto. He has worked in the not-for-profit environmental sector at the Windfall Ecology Centre.
Over the course of his municipal career, Chris has supported and championed many local environmental initiatives including the ‘Greenest Subdivision in Canada’, a pesticide ban in the town and the introduction of the Green Bin program. He has served as Chair of the Newmarket–Aurora Fire Services Committee and also led the development of Newmarket’s Cultural Master Plan as chair of that committee. He also served as the Council liaison to the Magna Centre Recreation Complex Budget Control Task Force, overseeing a budget of $37 million. Chris co-founded ‘First Night’ in Newmarket and was Chair of the Youth Support Task Force.
Chris spends his limitless energy working on making his community a better place for everyone.
